Have you ever wanted to take a writing class, but don't have time to enroll in a semester-length course? Or, simply need the eyes of careful readers/other writers? Then this workshop is for you.
When: Starting July 3rd, we will meet every Tuesday afternoon through the month of July -- from 6:30 to 8:30pm in Miami Beach.
What: We will explore Creative Non-fiction through master texts as well as workshop each other's pieces. You will receive assignments for each class and, as this will be a mixed group, the instructor will focus on individual needs as they arise within the group.
Instructor: The course will be taught by Vanessa Garcia, who currently teaches Literary Journalism at the University of California Irvine (UCI). She has also taught introduction to Creative Writing at the University of Miami and Essay writing for Johns Hopkins CTY program, as well as writing at Miami Dade College. She has an BA from Barnard College, Columbia University; an MFA from the University of Miami in Fiction Writing; an MA from University of California Irvine, in English. And is currently completing her PhD in Creative Non-fiction, also at UCI. She is also a fulltime writer and journalist. For further credentials, please see her website: www.vanessagarcia.org
Perks & Costs (in this case, one in the same): The idea behind this workshop is that it is affordable for writers on a budget that want to start or keep writing. $250 per person, for the whole month. Fact is, it's the best price in town.
Requirements: Adult Workshop -- You just have to be over 18. That's the only requirement.
